A list of top modern Architects with very creative concepts presented below. Modern architecture is what it is now due to the influence of some of the most creative and inspiring architects. These icons have revolutionized the world of architecture with their creations and plans and modern architecture is what they are now because of them. Their work has become symbols of what man can achieve through the use of a fertile imagination combined with hard work.
It is hard to say exactly who tops the list of these modern Architects but here’s what we think is an A list of modern Architects based on the famous buildings and designs that have withstood the sands of time.
1. Frank Gehry
The picture here shows City of Wine Complex in Northern Spain done by Frank Gehry. He is touted to be the top man in the field of Architecture because of the unusual way of designing his buildings. His work is also recognizable for the “deconstructive forms” that they have.
2. Frank Lloyd Wright
Frank Lloyd Wright has achieved iconic status in the world of architecture even if ironically he has never attended formal architecture schooling. He is what you may say today as an environmentalist architect. He has done some famous works like the Guggenheim Museum in New York City.
3. Leoh Ming Pei
Leoh Ming Pei or popularly known as I.M. Pei came from China and went to the United States to get formal schooling in Architecture. He became famous because of the way he transforms his geometric forms to be one with the surroundings that he is building on. Most of his work also reflects his Chinese heritage.
4. Zaha Hadid
Zaha Hadid is the lone woman in the architectural world that seems to be filled mostly with men. She comes from Iraq and became famous when she won the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the equivalent of the Nobel Peace Prize in the field of Architecture. One of her most notable work is the MAXXI.
5. Philip Johnson
Philip Johnson is an American architect whose works are easily recognizable: glass buildings. The picture here shows his famous Crystal Cathedral in California. He is also the founder of the Department of Architecture and Design.
6. Tom Wright
Tom Wright is of British origin and became famous for his creation of the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai. This creation is one of the most recognizable hotels in Dubai and made his reputation based on this.
7. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is a German-American architect that introduced the style of using glass and steel in the interiors of buildings. His designs are still widely used today.
8. Renzo Piano
Renzo Piano is from Italy and he designed The Shard in London that now has the reputation of being the tallest building in all of Europe.
9. Jean Nouvel
Jean Nouvel is French and won the Prtizker Prize in 2008. He became famous for his design of the Arab World Institute in Paris.
10. Moshe Safdie
Moshe Safdie is a native of Haifa and one of Louis Kahn’s apprentices. His famous work is the National Gallery of Canada.
